Haishan "Sam" Yang is an Ed.D. candidate and a career-long student affairs professional. He is a graduate assistant for the Division of Student Life at the University of Southern California. He engages in critical work as a scholar-practitioner around serving international students on campus. Sam comes from a teaching background and focuses his work experience on residential life, conduct and policy, first-year experience, and student involvement. His research interest builds on Leask's (2009, 2015) Internationalization at Home, Kim's (2012) International Student Identity Model, and Yao's (2016, 2018) International Student Sense of Belonging frameworks. Sam holds a B.A. in secondary education from Syracuse University and an M.A. from Boston College.
