International Student Experience Coordinator for Global Engagement

Rocio Isabel Zuniga, M.Ed. has been the International Student Experience Coordinator for Global Engagement at St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX for the past two years. She earned her bachelor’s degree in History with an emphasis on Latin America from the University of Texas at Austin, where studying abroad four times shaped her understanding of the challenges students face when adjusting to new academic cultures and facing homesickness. She later worked for six years as a bilingual immigration legal assistant, supporting clients from diverse backgrounds through complex immigration processes with a focus on research, compliance, communication, and empathy. Rocio earned her Master's in Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio, preparing her to work in diverse educational settings. In her current role, she advises F-1 and J-1 students on immigration regulations, cultural adjustment, and campus resources, plans programming to support international student success, and teaches a First-Year Seminar course designed to help incoming F-1 students transition to U.S. higher education by covering topics like immigration compliance, academic expectations, and cultural adjustment.
