Jane Boyland is the Department Chair for the International Hotel School at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI and has been an active participant in the university’s internationalization efforts for over 20 years. She designed and is the lead faculty member for a required course which has an embedded short-term international experience as it is her department’s goal that 100% of its students will have at least one international experience prior to graduation. She has been a member of the university’s Global Learning Committee since its inception and as a member has worked on projects to institute a Global Learning Distinction for students upon graduation and measurements for the university’s global and community citizenship outcome. She is co-chair of the JWU Goes Global Committee and is responsible for planning and executing programs providing educational and co-curricular international and cultural programming throughout the university’s 3 campuses. She has taught abroad in both Europe and Latin America. Boyland is currently a PhD. candidate at Iowa State University and the focus of her research is on international students and improving their career persistence.
