Dr. Nelofar Khamisani belongs to a traditional Pakistani family. She completed her undergraduate degree in law and her second undergraduate with a major in economics, political science, and geography. She has a triple master's in English and Urdu from Pakistan, an MS in Education from Eastern Illinois University, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at Kansas State University, US.
She started her career as a criminal and family lawyer, registered with the Sindh High Court Bar of Pakistan. While practicing as a lawyer, she thought there was a need to educate people first and then get justice, so she switched her profession to teaching. Her focus was on female education and opportunities for education abroad as they could be strong enough to stand up for their rights and teach English as a second or foreign language. She received The Best Teacher award and Certificates of Appreciation multiple times in her teaching career.
In her five years in the U.A.E., she gained vast experience teaching English as a second language and developing leadership skills as a section in charge of the female teachers' wing and as a vice principal.
She leads the office of Global Education Outreach, which focuses on student recruitment for the College of Education. She coordinates with Education USA, represents the department, and recruits for the department. She prioritizes representing the international community and bridging the local community, campus, and school district.
In 2023, she received the Alumni Leadership Award from Kansas State University, the Social Justice Advocacy Award for the Department of Curriculum & Instruction, and the Alumni Scholarship Award. She was a nominee for the Commerce Bank Presidential Award at K-State.
