Associate Provost for Global Engagement

Dr. Howard has over 20 years of experience in higher education administration and has worked in a variety of higher education divisions including Admissions, Social Equity and Alumni Relations. Dr. Howard is the Associate Provost for Global Engagement at West Chester University overseeing both education abroad and international programs and services.
She has co-led a graduate workshop in Italy, titled International Higher Education, designed to provide opportunities for students to explore international education, including study abroad, through a cross-cultural immersion experience. In addition, Dr. Howard has led alternative spring break study abroad programs to Greece, England and Italy. She has presented abroad on topics such as experiential learning theory, institutional barriers in education abroad, and diversity and inclusion strategies focused on increasing participation of underrepresented students in international experiences.
Dr. Howard was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and traveled to Japan to study the higher education system, structure, grading system, and academic program offerings of Japan. She also spent time with the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology exchanging ideas on how best to transition Japanese students into U.S. Higher Education. Dr. Howard also serves as a Peer Evaluator for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
Dr. Howard is a member of several professional organizations including NAFSA, Association of International Educators and the Fulbright Association. She is a board member for the American College of Norway, WorldStrides Educational Travel Experiences, Inc., and ViaTRM. Dr. Howard holds a bachelor of science degree in Office Systems from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, and a master’s degree in Higher Education Counseling/Student Affairs from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Howard also holds a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Management from Capella University.
