Dr. Maria V. Boccalandro, is a sustainable urban planner with a master's degree in urban transportation and a Ph.D. in political science. She is the Dean of Special Academic Programs, International Engagement and Global Competitiveness Office of Dallas College,. She was formerly the Director of Sustainability and Programs in the Office of Advancement of Cedar Valley campus (CV) of the Dallas College (DC). She also served at CV as the Interim Dean of Instructional Support and Distance Education, coordinating faculty and employee led teams to produce an online learning strategic plan and professional development plan for CV. In February, 2025 she was selected as a Fulbright Specilaist and is looking for opportunites to serve other higher educatuion institutions in her areas of expertise.
Dr. Maria V. Boccalandro has more than thirty years of experience teaching associate, bachelor and postgraduate courses in community colleges and universities in the US and Latin America. She is the recipient of the CV 2019 Adjunct Excellence Teaching Award. She has micro-credentials of the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) in Fostering a Culture of Belonging and Effective Online Teaching She is now finishing NAFSA Executive Internationalization Leadership e-institute (June, 2025).
She serves on the Environmental Commission of the city of Dallas. In the past she has served as a board member of Groundwork Dallas, Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas- HWNT (Dallas Chapter), the Future Opportunities of Alternative Residential Development Commission of the city of Coppell, Toastmasters (DC Talks Chapter), Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce,
She is the proud mother of four children and this year she celebrated her 40th wedding anniversary, she is the grandmother of two beautiful, healthy and intelligent boys. She enjoys volunteering, skiing, swimming, scuba diving, experiencing nature, reading and writing novels.
