Engin has served at higher education institutions as an ESL/EFL instructor, leader and consultant for nearly 25 years and currently works at the Accreditation Policy and Data Specialist at Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA). Prior to that position he served as the founding director for the Intensive English Center at Tennessee State University. Engin was a Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow at Boston University and a visiting Fulbright fellow at the English Language Studies Department at M.I.T. He served as a CEA Commissioner for the 2014-16 term and was the 2017 Chair of the Commission. Between 2019-22, he was a director-at-large on the Executive Board of EnglishUSA. More recently, he served as an academic board member on the Board of Directors of the Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors (ASPA). He has received and managed many grants from by the U.S. Department of State, American Councils for International Education as well as other federal and international agencies. On its 50th Anniversary, TESOL International Association recognized Engin as one of the 30 emerging leaders who will shape the future of both the association and the profession for years to come. His work focuses on quality and excellence in language teaching and international higher education.
