Friday, May 30, 2025
8:30 AM – 12:00 PM PST
How does innovation and creativity transform the student experience? UC San Diego is a student-centered university integrating storytelling and collaboration to expand our understanding of the world. Join this learning excursion to explore Fallen Star, a renowned installation of UC San Diego’s Stuart Collection, offering a glimpse of the international experience through artist Do Ho Suh’s unique perspective. Continue your tour at The Basement, a space in the Design and Innovation Building, which allows curious students to discover new ways of thinking and doing through collaboration. This dedicated start-up incubator allows students to make a positive difference in the world from the ground up, allowing them to bring their ideas to life with design and innovation. In the Entrepreneurship Center, see the nexus of a vibrant creative ecosystem, entrepreneurial network and experiential learning. The final stop is the Cultural Heritage Engineering Initiative (CHEI)’s Wide-Angle Virtual Environment (WAVE) lab, a global earth science research initiative. Learn how the WAVE lab pushes the envelope of BIG-VR, exploring techniques that enable the creation of ultra-high resolution, immersive, walk-in, virtual environments for collaborative research, development, data analytics and scientific story telling at large.
Learning Objectives:
