It is never too early to prepare our international students for their immigration future. Join an experienced immigration attorney and NAFSA member to discuss the requirements of core temporary work visa options for international students (OPT, H-1B, and others), permanent-residency pathways, and practical guidance on advising students to best position themselves for navigating our immigration system after graduation.
This session was selected as the Region XII Highlight.
Learning Objectives:
Identify the core legal requirements for common work visa options for international students, such as practical training, H-1B, and others.
Advise international students on the connection between their curricular/academic choices and the availability of post-graduation visa options.
Identify the common permanent residency options available to international students and how they interact with temporary non-immigrant status/long-term career plans.
