Alone at the Top: Finding Focus in Your Leadership Role

Overwhelmed leading an education abroad office? Unsure where to start? Does it seem harder to lead than five years ago? This session offers guidance to new or aspiring education abroad directors on how to lead their offices in the face of competing priorities, budget restrictions, and the evolving regulatory climate of higher education.

Learning Objectives:

  • Determine and articulate the purpose and relevance of your office or organization through use of data and development of impact statements, office goals, and measurable outcomes.
  • Highlight and define regulatory environments, map compliance laws, and develop policies and staffing to address compliance issues.
  • Develop appropriate internal and external partnerships that enhance collaboration and accountability and create strategies to focus on portfolio management and assessment.
