Education Abroad and the Student Transition to Higher Education

Participants learn about models and challenges of education abroad programming for students who are new to higher education institutions. Presenters discuss similarities and differences in institutional approaches to programming for students about to enter higher education. Additional topics include program design and development, staffing, and student recruitment.
Learning Objectives:
Identify rationales for and benefits of college transition EA programs abroad, including the articulation of a concept proposal.
Describe different frameworks, models, and building blocks for college transition EA program design. This includes but is not limited to engaging stakeholders’ choice of location and duration; student and faculty recruitment; pre-departure orientation; unique health & safety considerations; and working with parents.
Review program evaluation and assessment results.
Return to their office ready to propose and implement college transition EA programming.
