The U.S. presidential election has returned Donald Trump to office, as well as brought new policymakers to Washington, D.C. However, the nation remains divided on a large number of issues, including many policy proposals that could impact energy and climate change. At the same time, there is a growing disconnect between what’s happening in Washington, D.C. and cooperative action around energy and climate in some states and cities, including right here in California. David Victor will discuss how the election has affected production of oil and gas in the U.S. along with investment in renewable energy and novel energy technologies and examine how the U.S. engages with other countries under the new administration.
