Better Together: Collaboration between DSOs and Lawyers

This session will challenge DSO/AROs’ and immigration lawyers’ preconceived ideas about working together. We will explore sources of common biases, and discuss examples of differing perspectives on advising and regulatory interpretations. In doing so, we will encourage both DSO/AROs and lawyers to rethink our strengths in collaboration.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand immigration lawyers’ perspectives on specific regulations that pertain to F-1/J-1 visa holders.
  • Identify situations in which DSOs and immigration lawyers can work collaboratively.
  • Learn when and how DSOs can develop long-term partnerships with immigration lawyers.
