Enriching the Healthcare Workforce Through International Education

This session presents two case studies of programs that combine healthcare-related fields with international education: a grant-funded healthcare advancement program for internationally-trained graduates recertifying in the US, and a study abroad program that exposes global health undergraduate students to non US-based practice and perspectives.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify key benefits of international education for students in health-related fields in the US, highlighting the value of global perspectives in healthcare training.
  • Support internationally-trained healthcare professionals to navigate educational and career opportunities and to culturally and linguistically enrich the US workforce with diverse approaches to practice.
  • Share actionable strategies to integrate international education experiences into health-related programs, fostering a more globally aware and culturally competent healthcare workforce.
