Comparative Approaches to Sponsoring Employees for Permanent Residence

Join a panel discussion of colleagues from a variety of institutions to compare approaches to sponsorship for permanent residency. Panelists will share institutional policies, processes, methods for case management, use of outside counsel, implementation of fees, and strategies for successful partnerships to support the permanent residency process.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand a broad range of institutional approaches to managing sponsorship for permanent residency, including what pathway(s) to permanent residency are offered for different positions, and how those caseloads are divided and managed by staff.
  • Develop an understanding of how different institutions adapt their processes for changing PERM processing timelines within the 18-month deadline, and how this impacts other pathways to permanent residency.
  • Define a variety of approaches and strategies for collaborating with Human Resources and other campus stakeholders to streamline the PR process, including drafting job descriptions, documenting recruitment, and candidate selection.
