Carissa McCarthy joined Rutgers Global- ISSS office as an International Student Adviser in 2006. During her time at Rutgers, she has worked extensively with F-1 and J-1 students and in cross-cultural programming and students and staff. Her role focuses on advising short-term and non-degree and non-traditional students, like Fulbright, J-1 student interns, and F-1 non-degree programs. In addition, she has worked closely with the ISSS office to provide intercultural training and programs for the campus. During Carissa's undergraduate studies, she traveled abroad to Italy and upon returning, decided to pursue a career in International Education. She graduated with a master’s degree in Intercultural Communication from the University of Pennsylvania and enjoys traveling to new places with her husband and daughter.
