Ailsa Lamont is a recognised global leader in climate action in the field of international education. For the past decade, following senior roles at three Australian universities as International Director and Pro Vice-Chancellor International, the focus of her work has been the intersection between environmental sustainability and global education.
Ailsa is a Co-founder and CEO of the International Education Sustainability Group which runs the Climate Action Barometer for international education, a global benchmarking study that tracks, reports and compares climate action across international education, allowing institutions to operate more sustainably and to demonstrate global climate leadership to their students.
She was Co-founder and served as Foundation Chair from 2019 to 2023 of CANIE, the Climate Action Network for International Educators, a grassroots global network to catalyse and accelerate sustainable practice across the international education sector.
Ailsa trained with former US Vice President Al Gore as a Climate Reality Leader in Pittsburgh in 2017 and served as a NAFSA Senior Fellow in 2020-2021. Her work in this area was recognised in 2023 when she received the International Education Association of Australia’s Award for Distinguished Contribution to International Education.
