Charter Morris is the Director of International Student & Scholar Services at The University of Alabama, where he has served since 2012.
Charter holds a Bachelor’s degree in history from Hendrix College and a Master’s in Higher Education from The University of Mississippi.
Charter began his career in international education with The University of Mississippi, where he served from 2001 until 2008. From 2008 to 2010, Charter was the Director of International Recruitment at American University of Central Asia in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, part of a USAID Project to internationalize the AUCA Campus. And from 2010 until 2012, Charter served as the Assistant Director for Immigration and Scholar Services at Syracuse University.
Charter has been active both at the national and regional levels in NAFSA: Association of International Educators (NAFSA) since 2001. Among his many roles, he served as the Regional Affairs Committee Chair in 2023 (Chair Stream 2022-2023), as NAFSA Region VII Chair in 2019 (Chair Stream 2017-2020), as the Knowledge Community ISSS Liaison for NAFSA Region VII 2015-17, as the Mississippi State Rep to Region VII in 2007-08, and as a member of NAFSA Trainer Corps since 2014. At the state level, Charter served Mississippi Association of International Educators Chair in 2007 (Chair Stream 2006-09) and as a board member for the Alabama Association of International Educators 2015-18.
