Catherine M. Eagan, Ph.D. is a professor of English and coordinator of the Global Studies program at Las Positas College (LPC), a community college in the San Francisco Bay Area. She recently worked as an Academic Specialist for the Berkeley International Study Program. Her work on the racial formation of Irish identity in the Atlantic world has appeared in leading publications in the field. In 2017, her Fulbright scholar project was titled “Teaching Transnational Understandings of Racial Formation, Multiculturalism, and Interculturalism.” In the year following, she was a fellow with Stanford’s Educational Partnership to Internationalize the Curriculum, studying how students could use digital and social annotation of their world literature textbook to develop a global mindset. Her teaching and equity work at LPC has focused on the internationalization of curriculum, equity in curriculum and pedagogy, and critical race theory as applied to instruction in the humanities and social sciences. She is currently the lead on a Global Engagement Task Force at LPC.
