Barbara Lindeman serves as Director of International Health, Safety and Security at the University of Missouri and has over 25 years of experience working in the field of international education. Lindeman presents and publishes about health, safety and security, risk mitigation, and supporting students with physical and mental health issues and documented disabilities in having successful and enriching education abroad experiences. Lindeman served as editor and co-author of Best Practices in Addressing Mental Health Issues Affecting Education Abroad Participants (NAFSA 2017). She co-chaired the OSAC Academia Sector Committee (ASC) Mental Health Initiative and edited and co-authored the OSAC ASC Mental Health Toolkit (2020). In addition, she co-authored the chapters “Mental Health Abroad" in NAFSA’s Guide to Education Abroad Fifth Edition (2022) and “Managing a Mental Health Crisis” in Crisis Management in Education Abroad (NAFSA forthcoming). Lindeman holds a BA in English and an MS in Student Development.
