With more than two decades of experience supporting the international engagement of higher education institutions globally, Clay presents frequently about issues impacting cross-border student mobility. Clay has served on several advisory boards, including those affiliated with the U.S. Department of State’s Open Doors Report, International Education Advantage (Intead), the Council of International Schools (CIS), and the IC3 Movement, respectively.
Clay currently works as an independent global education specialist, and has worked on projects with several partner organizations to advance their global engagement. Clay currently works with Cialfo, the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the International Baccalaureate (IB), Northeastern University, among others.Clay has also worked on multiple projects for Cambridge International (part of Cambridge University Press & Assessment), IELTS, and Ithaca College. Previously Clay led international higher education engagement for the College Board, and was awarded the annual Distinguished Service Award by the International Association for College Admission Counseling (Int'l-ACAC, formerly OACAC) in 2013.
Clay has taught English literature and studio art at Serramonte del Rey High School in Daly City, California. He also taught at the university level. Clay holds a B.A. in English from Vanderbilt University and an M.F.A. in painting from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
