Associate Director, Education Abroad

In an international education career spanning over 30 years, Dr. Steglitz, has worked in the U.S. and Germany. Her academic background is in psychology and intercultural communication. Her dissertation research focused on the impact of study abroad experiences on students' cognitive development. As Associate Director of Michigan State University's Office for Education Abroad, she is responsible for Program Development and Management, as well as Faculty Development and Engagement, and supports various strategic initiatives. She has taught both on and off-campus courses on intercultural and global learning, and has written, among other topics, on orientation programming, culture learning/teaching and assessing intercultural competencies. Among other publications, she co-edited (with Barbara Kappler Mikk) the third edition of NAFSA's "Learning Across Cultures: Locally and Globally." Inge has been an active NAFSA member for many years, serving on various leadership committees, including the 2016 Annual Conference Committee, which she chaired.
