Assistant Director for International Engagement

Jonathan Carmona Marrero (he/him) is currently in his eighth year of professional work in International Education. He serves as the Assistant Director for International Engagement in the Office of International Programs and Services (OIPS) at George Mason University. In this role, Jonathan oversees the development of educational, sociocultural, and professional development programs aimed at facilitating a sense of belonging and success for international students from over 130 countries. He also coordinates arrival services for new international students, manages international student orientation, and oversees OIPS's participation in major university programs and events, including International Education Week, and International Week. Jonathan previously worked as an International Transcript Evaluator in International Admissions and Enrollment Services with INTO University Partnership. He also has experience in Spanish translation at the federal level and has studied abroad in Havana, Cuba. Jonathan is a 2024-2025 NAFSA RISE Fellow and an alum of the 2024 NAFSA Academy for International Education.
