Education Matters
Rebecca Zeigler Mano is the Director of Education Matters, a non-profit organization in Zimbabwe that matches high-achieving, low-income students with higher education opportunities. Previously, she worked for 15 years as the EducationUSA Country Coordinator at the U.S. Embassy in Harare. Rebecca founded the United States Student Achievers Program (USAP) to assist highly talented, economically disadvantaged Zimbabwean students access admission and financial aid to study at top U.S. institutions. USAP has assisted over 300 students to study in the United States. In 2013 a film about USAP won the NAFSA International Education Video Contest. An active NAFSAn, Zeigler Mano served as the chair of the Recruitment, Admissions, and Preparation Knowledge Community and was a member of the 2009 Annual Conference Committee. She won the Marita Houlihan Award in 2005 for her work with USAP. She has presented at ten national NAFSA conferences on a variety of topics relevant to international admission. Her expertise includes working with economically-disadvantaged students, disabled students and those with sporting talent.
