Victoria C. Fontan, PhD

Victoria C. Fontan is the Provost of the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF), where she oversees academic and student services strategy to expand access to quality higher education in Afghanistan, especially for women. She is also the Executive Director of the Alliance for the Education of Women in Afghanistan (AEWA), leading efforts to establish quality standards and credentialing systems to bridge educational gaps for Afghan women and girls.

Victoria brings over 25 years of experience in higher education leadership, international relations, and advocacy. She serves as a Colonel in the French Gendarmerie’s Reserve Command, and was recently knighted in the French Republic’s Order of the Academic Palms.
