Dr. CHERRY IBAŃEZ-ULTRA is the 7th President of the University of Eastern Philippines in Catarman, Northern Samar having been installed thereto on December 10, 2019. She has a doctorate degree in Agricultural Economics, Major in Natural Resource Economics with Cognates in Environmental Science and Management which she obtained at the University of the Philippines, Los Bańos, Laguna in 2001. She obtained her Master of Science in Economics in 1993 at the University of Eastern Philippines, University Town, Catarman, Northern Samar. In 1985, she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the Philippine School of Business Administration, Manila. She is a Registered Agriculturist and a Resource Economist. Prior to her appointment as the UEP President, she held various administrative posts in the academe. As a public servant for 32 years, her contribution to the academic sector through her expertise in the field of economics, environmental science, and agriculture paved the way to strengthening the foundation of the University of Eastern Philippines, more so in times of pandemic. She stood as an epitome of strong leadership and a representation of an empowered woman who maneuvered the academe in a grand manner for the past four (4) years and during the pandemic. Dr. Ultra is a member of the PASUC Executive Board, Member of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Visayas Consortium for Industry & Energy Research and Development (EVCIEERD) and a Member of the Board of Directors of the Visayas Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Resources Program (ViCARP). Recently, Dr. Ultra has been elected to the AAACU Board of Directors during the 24th Biennial Conference and General Assembly of the Asian Association of Agricultural Colleges and Universities held at Nagoya University, Japan. She is the only Filipino member to be elected to this prestigious position.
