Abigail Wang is a Master’s student in Social Psychology at New York University and holds a BA in Psychology and Chinese with departmental and general honors. Her research examines cultural identity, social cognition, mental health, and resilience, with a particular focus on how acculturative stress and generational trauma shape self-concept in immigrant populations. Throughout her work, Abigail is dedicated to empowering youth with the knowledge and resources needed to address disparities in global mental health. She has worked with diverse populations throughout the lifespan, including older adults and college students, facilitating mindfulness programs for individuals with dementia and wellness initiatives for college students. She also served as a listener for her campus mental health peer hotline. Abigail is a co-author of the upcoming publication Coping and Disability: A Positive Psychology Perspective in the Oxford Handbook of Positive Psychology and Disability (2nd ed.). Currently, as a research assistant at the Center for Global Mental Health at The New School for Social Research under the guidance of Dr. Adam Brown, she focuses on adapting low-cost, scalable mental health interventions for underserved communities in New York. She also contributes to the evaluation of a pilot psychological intervention for adolescents in New York and conducts client assessments, aiming to empower individuals across the lifespan from adolescence to older adulthood.
