Marilyn Jackson, Ed.D, is the Assistant Vice President for International Education at San Francisco State University (SF State) with more than 25 years of experience in the field of education abroad. She received her doctorate in international and multicultural education from the University of San Francisco. Inspired by her experiences as a study abroad student in Tuebingen, Germany, she wrote her dissertation on the experiences of African American study abroad students. She has presented on issues of diversity and equity in education abroad as well as the influence of media on study abroad participation at several NAFSA (Professional Organization for International Educators) national and regional conferences. She is an active member of NAFSA’s Black and Multi-Cultural Professionals in International Education (BMcPIE) interest group. In July 2024 she was featured in an International Educator article, titled “Perspectives on Leadership: Learning by Doing”.
