Birgit Siebe-Herbig is Head of Section “Research and Internationalisation, University Networks” at German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Bonn, Germany. In this position she launched new programmes like e.g. “Strategic Partnerships and Thematic Networks” in 2012, "European University Networks (EUN) – national initiative" in 2019 and most recently "Konrad Zuse Schools of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence" in 2021. She frequently presents on relevant topics at conferences, seminars etc.
After receiving her Diploma in French, Russian and Economics from Justus-Liebig University in Giessen she began working for Bertelsmann AG, first in Gutersloh, then in Brussels. After a couple of years she started working for DAAD. Her positions there included Team Leader in the marketing division and Head of Section "PROMOS, Summer Schools and Study Visits" with responsibility for various DAAD programmes.
