Cofounder, Licensed Mental Health Therapist
Being Well Abroad
Erin is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Behavior Analyst who brings two decades of clinical expertise to study abroad providers and participants by developing and delivering accessible trainings that foster resiliency, safety, and growth through the company she cofounded, Being Well Abroad. Being Well Abroad's offerings include live and on-demand open group trainings for staff, customized workshops or consultation for organizations, an asynchronous Mental Health Mini-Course for students/participants that includes an individualized wellness plan across travel, and credentialing for Mental Health-Informed Global Education Leaders. In addition to providing evidence-based mental health interventions and consultation to individuals, families, and organizations, Erin has lived, worked, traveled, volunteered, or studied in 60+ countries across 6 continents and currently splits time between Pittsburgh and the Wild Atlantic Way in County Donegal, Ireland, with her partner and children. She considers travel a powerful mental health intervention and seeks to support others' safe -- and, in fact, stabilizing -- disruption of limiting constructs, patterns, and roles in favor of expansive health, inspiration, connection, and growth. Erin is particularly interested in the parallel features of Post Traumatic Growth, cultural evolution, and therapeutic travel experiences, which share transformative perspectives on de-centering the individual self from collective existence, priorities, meaning making, and altruism (Michael Christopher, 2004).
