Renate Link is a Professor of Business English at the Department of Business and Law at Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences/Germany. She is also the Vice Head of the university’s Language Center and passionately involved in the internationalization of her institution as she believes in the benefits of the synergy effects of this field with languages and cultures. Renate Link studied Business Administration specializing in Tourism Management and did a postgraduate program in General & Business English. Besides, she completed additional qualifications on the Methods & Didactics of German as a Foreign Language, Vocational Pedagogy and Intercultural Communication & Cooperation.
Before becoming a professor, she worked in the Tourism Sector and as a Trainer for Languages and Intercultural Management with an international clientele. As she did her doctorate in English & Cultural Studies with a thesis on Intercultural Communication in Tourism, her research focuses on Intercultural Management with an strong emphasis on COIL, edutainment/gamification and the differences between Western and Eastern cultures. Since 2021, she has also been the Founding Director of the Institute of Intercultural Communication at Aschaffenburg UAS and has co-headed the regional SIETAR chapter Frankfurt-Rhine-Main-Lower Franconia; from 2022 until 2024, she was on the board of the German Society for Key Competences in Teaching, Research and Practice and since 2022, she has been a member of the council of IACCM (International Association of Cross-Cultural Competence and Management). All these experiences enable her to promote the acquisition of both hard and soft skills among students from a global perspective.
