Director, Refugee Career Pathways
Los Rios Community College District
Olga Prizhbilov is the Director of Refugee Career Pathways with Los Rios Community College District since 2021. In the last four years, Prizhbilov and the Refugee Career Pathways team served over 2,500 refugee adult learners, helping them gain self-sufficiency through education and employment. Prizhbilov and team met the students where they were when the US took out troops from Afghanistan in 2021 and Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022; working with community-based organizations, the refugees received mental health support, legal support, and resettlement services for their families and loved ones.
Prizhbilov has been a change agent in community college education since 2008, helping individuals clarify and reach their career goals. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Master of Science Degree in Career Counseling from Sacramento State University. Olga is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Leadership and Innovation degree with Arizona State University. Olga is a 1.5 generation immigrant/refugee, coming to the US at the age of 12 with her family from Ukraine. She was the first in her family to graduate with a bachelor’s degree. She gives back to her community by helping other refugee families learn about college and the world of work. She also runs a private practice in career counseling as well as consulting immigrant-owned small businesses.
Olga’s passion is building community: whether it is taking the community college into the community or bringing community into the college
