Ashley (Sansotta) Tankersley has managed international student recruitment at Hillsborough Community College for over a decade, where she develops recruitment plans to grow and diversify international student enrollments by nurturing international partnerships, contracting agents, and attending overseas recruitment events. She creates and executes training programs for agents contracted to recruit students, while defining ethical standards and outlining performance measures.
Ashley consistently contributes to the field by presenting internationally on successful agent partnerships, promoting community colleges, and 2+2 programs. She has served in numerous leadership positions, including NAFSA Region VII's Two-Year College Representative, NAFSA's Chair Emeritus for the Community College IIG, and as a member of the International-ACAC Membership Committee. She was also the recipient of the NAFSA Region VII New Professional 2016 Award. Currently, Ashley is a member of the AIRC Certification Commission, a member of the IDP Connect USA Client Advisory Panel, and a Board member of the IELTS USA Higher Education Advisory Council.
Previously, Ashley was a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Peru, where she initiated and implemented successful women and youth entrepreneurship programs. Additionally, she worked in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy to develop new English teaching materials for future volunteers.
Ashley received her MA in International Education from the SIT Graduate Institute, where her research explored Swedish education agents’ perspectives in promoting U.S. community colleges in Sweden. Her research on this topic has been published internationally.
