Chief Programs Officer for Global Engagement & Learning
Alamo Colleges District
As an attorney with licenses to practice in Mexico and the United States (admitted in New York), I currently serve as Chief Program Officer for Global Engagement & Learning at the Alamo Colleges District in San Antonio, Texas. My professional journey weaves through the realms of legal practice, governmental service, and international education, underpinned by a fervent belief in education as a catalyst for cultural understanding and international cooperation.
Leading with a vision to democratize international education, as SIO, I have spearheaded transformative initiatives at the Alamo Colleges District, such as virtual exchanges (COIL) and comprehensive curriculum internationalization. These efforts were pivotal in earning the prestigious NAFSA 2024 Paul Simon Award for our strides in making international education accessible to all. This achievement aligns with my broader ambition to ensure every student benefits from global learning opportunities.
With a robust legal and educational foundation—holding a Law Degree from Universidad Iberoamericana, a Master’s in International Laws from Universidad Autónoma de México (UNAM), and an LLM in American Laws from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law—my approach to international education and workforce development is holistic and inclusive. My experiences, including completing elementary education in Brussels, Belgium, have instilled in me a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and the importance of collaboration in achieving shared goals.
My focus is on expanding international workforce opportunities and fostering an environment of collaboration among educational institutions, businesses, and communities worldwide.
In an era where international collaboration and cross-cultural competencies are paramount, my mission is to lead initiatives that prepare our students as global citizens, ready to contribute to an ever-evolving world. Through education and workforce development, we can build bridges that transcend geographical and cultural barriers, fostering a global community of learners, innovators, and leaders.
