Amy Lasser is the University of Texas Austin in LA Program Director and Assistant Professor of Practice. She brings more than twenty-five years of entertainment industry and academic experience to her role supporting students as they explore and build professional skills in Hollywood. As Program Director, she oversees all aspects of UT’s year-round program, developing curriculum, supervising LA-based faculty and staff, and planning and overseeing internships and extra-curricular learning experiences. Amy engages and enlarges UT’s Los Angeles alumni and professional network to create learning opportunities for students during the program and as they launch their careers. She has produced and directed behind-the-scenes documentaries for major studios including Paramount and Warner Bros. She was segment and supervising producer on a NBCUniversal online show. She worked as a writer/producer of digital content for the Disney Channel, and her feature film script was acquired by New Line Cinema. Before assuming the role of Program Director, Amy was UTLA’s Program Manager, building relationships with myriad entertainment partners to provide internship opportunities and ensure UTLA stays current with industry standards and trends. Prior to joining UTLA, Amy worked in admissions and graduate programming at California State University, Northridge. Amy holds an M.F.A. in Screenwriting from USC and a B.A. in English Literature and Women’s Studies from Dartmouth College.
