8B Education Investments
Dr. Lydiah Kemunto Bosire is the Founder and CEO of 8b, the first social impact fintech platform focused exclusively on helping campuses grow their African footprint by tackling the gap in education financing facing African students. 8B facilitates loan financing through integrating lenders, students and colleges, thereby building a bridge to the world’s fastest-growing university age population. The mission of 8B is to enable African brilliance to have a global impact. 8B has been featured by CNN International, Bloomberg, The Economist, and on Forbes, and was invited to make a commitment at the September 2022 meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative to increase African enrolment in global universities.
Prior to leading 8B, Lydiah’s career spanned nearly two decades as a diplomat, a serial social entrepreneur, and a policy advisor. She served at the Executive Office of the UN Secretary General at the UN Secretariat, the World Bank, and the World Health Organization. Earlier in her career, she also served on the founding Board of Directors of Keep a Child Alive, as a mentor of the Oxford Women in Business network, on the Council of the Global Citizen Impact Funds, as an advisor to the Entrepreneurs-in-Residence program at Schimdt Futures, and as a Senior Advisor at MacroAdvisory Partners, in addition to co-foundeding two successful global social impact organizations while still in college.
Lydiah is a 2024 Echoing Green Fellow, a Senior Advisor at the Africa House in Davos, a member of the inaugural class of the Bloomberg Green Champions, and serves on the Board of Directors of WorldQuant University.
Lydiah holds a PhD (D.Phil) in Politics from the University of Oxford (New College). She holds additional degrees from Oxford and Cornell University.
