Among his various professional programs, Murtala participated in the International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP), a professional exchange initiative of the U.S. Government. The project, titled "Developing Partnerships: Connecting African Universities with HBCUs," took place from October 16 to November 3, 2023, in the United States. Murtala had the privilege of attending a session at the NAFSA headquarters, chaired by Fanta Aw, the Executive Director and CEO of NAFSA. During his visit, he toured 13 universities across five states in the U.S., including UCLA in Sacramento, California.
