Miki Sugimura, PhD (she/her/hers)

President, Professor of Comparative and International Education
Sophia University

Miki Sugimura is President and a professor of Comparative and International Education of Sophia University, , and UNESCO Chairholder on Education for Human Dignity, Peace and Sustainability. She received M.Ed. and PhD from University of Tokyo. She is also a visiting professor of the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability, a board member of World Council of Comparative Education Societies, and Vice Chair of Promotion of Sustainability in Postgraduate Education and Research in the Asia-Pacific region (ProSPER.Net). She was appointed to a member of the International Expert Group on the revision of the 1974 Recommendation by UNESCO in 2022. Her research topics are international higher education, multicultural education and Education for Sustainable Development.
