Debs Coutts is Study Abroad Manager at the University of Edinburgh and manages the inbound visiting student exchange and study abroad programmes. Debs has over 25 years of experience working within Higher Education and over 10 years in International Higher Education. Initially, Debs followed a vocational education in Hospitality and Catering (and quickly decided it wasn’t for her), then went onto a career as a Recruitment Consultant (again, not for her), finally having the opportunity to work for an Adult Education Charity. Having had experience with Adult Education and enjoying it immensely, it was the inspiration from this role going forward. It was then Debs started a new career in Higher Education at the University of Southampton and realised it was her true vocation and passion. After 5 years at Southampton, she moved to Nottingham and spent 16 years with the University of Nottingham. In each HE institution, Debs has built her skill set and experience through various roles including: Admissions Officer, Business Readiness Manager, Global Engagement Manager and from 2021, Study Abroad Manager at the University of Edinburgh. Over the last decade, Debs has dedicated herself to expanding the international reach of these institutions through fostering cross-border collaborations, and enhancing global opportunities to students and staff within the evolving landscape of Higher Education.
