Julia Chen (PhD, FTCL, PFHEA) is the Chair of the Hong Kong Teaching Excellence Alliance initiated by the Hong Kong University Grants Committee, and the Director of the Educational Development Centre at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Her research interests include leveraging technology in education, learning analytics for quality enhancement, and English Across the Curriculum. She leads several large-scale multi-university projects, including one on incorporating GenAI in learning, teaching and assessment, that involves all the government-funded universities in Hong Kong. Julia has won numerous awards, such as the QS Reimagine Education Awards Breakthrough Technology Innovation in Education Silver Prize, the Hong Kong UGC Teaching Award (Collaborative Team leader), EdTech Heroes Learning Experience Award, Paper Award in Learning Analytics, and twice her university’s President’s Award for Excellent Performance in teaching and service respectively. Julia is a popular speaker and has been invited to give keynotes and talks in HK, Indonesia, Japan, Mainland China, Singapore, Sweden, UK and USA. She has been honored with the lifetime designation of Distinguished Fellow by the Association for Writing Across the Curriculum in the USA.
