Comparative Approaches to Curricular Practical Training Eligibility

Curricular Practical Training (CPT) regulations leave a great deal of room for interpretation in their application. A panel of designated school officials (DSOs) explores a variety of approaches to implementing CPT policy, addressing topics that include the one-year requirement, documentation and stakeholder involvement, and institutional CPT requirement.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand differences between institutional CPT policies and the sources of those differences.
  • Analyze your own institution's CPT policies and review those policies in light of the regulations governing practical training.
  • Implement changes to your institution's CPT policies with model practices that could be applied at their institution.
