Explore how purpose-driven education abroad programs that are rooted in place-based learning and strategic stakeholder partnerships, can advance United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Learn innovative approaches to holistic and experiential program design and how to use impact measurement tools and dashboards to track and enhance SDG contributions and student outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

  • Create experiences that meaningfully contribute to SDG targets while enhancing student learning outcomes and align program purpose with local contexts and partnerships to amplify the impact on both global sustainability goals and student development.
  • Develop innovative pedagogical approaches that connect classroom learning with real-world sustainability challenges, fostering deep engagement with local communities and environments.
  • Utilize data dashboards and other measurement tools to track and report on program-level and institutional contributions to SDGs, demonstrating the impact of purpose-driven, place-based partnerships in education abroad.
  • Develop comprehensive strategies to effectively communicate the impact of SDG-focused education abroad programs to diverse stakeholders, including university leadership, faculty, students, and external partners. Participants will create tailored messaging approaches that highlight the value of purpose-driven, place-based partnerships in advancing both institutional goals and global sustainability objectives.
